Ancient writing and current politics
Nov. 15th, 2005 07:29 amI haven't posted in a while, so I wanted to find something interesting. This article is about how the discovery of an early alphabet found in a settlement of 10th century B.C. Israel has an effect on the modern debate in the archeological community, which is itself an extension of the politics in the region.
Research on ancient writing linked with modern Mideast conflict
On a more personal note, this week is absolutely crazy as the entire family has to deal with doctor's appointments, dentist appointments, flu clinics, pre-school open houses, university orientations, and registering cars in the new state (still) combined with all the normal weekly activities (work, school, gymnastics, art class, playdates, etc.). And of course GOF.
I am definitely looking forward to the weekend.

Date: 2005-11-16 03:17 pm (UTC)I know Samford has one, my roommate used to do it. However, I'm still a little skittish about leaving Monkey with a stranger since she's still fairly young. I know this is the paranoid new mother in me, and I feel like I will be getting over this pretty soon as there are more & more things we're missing out on by having to stay home... But for right now, I'm not quite there yet.
Totally dig the Xmas LJ them, by the way. Annie likes the bouncing Santas.
Thanks! I'm really enjoying it, and I'm glad I put it up so early - more time to stare at it in rapture! :))
