Obama Depressed, Distant Since 'Battlestar Galactica' Series Finale

"Since the end of the series, Obama has reportedly brushed off key budgetary decisions, ignored his wife and children, and neglected his daily workouts, claiming that he no longer cares if he lets himself go 'just like Lee did before the rescue on New Caprica.' "

" 'I'm a little concerned,' first lady Michelle Obama was overheard saying at a fundraising event Tuesday. 'When Firefly was canceled, he walked around like a zombie for a week, and Serenity was the only thing that snapped him out of it. Last night he said he felt like he had just discovered David Axelrod was one of the Final Five, whatever that means.' "

Yesterday MSNBC had an article on the best way to waste time on the internet, and one of those was the Fail Blog. It was new to me and completely hilarious, so I thought I would paste a few:

Marketwatch had a story on this morning with 3 extremely useful websites related to the phone:

- Ever needed to call someone, but didn't really want to talk to them?  Slydial.com allows you to go straight to voicemail.

- Ever needed an excuse to get off the phone?  Sorrygottago.com allows you to play sound effects like a crying baby, a ringing doorbell, a hungry dog, or even a cow (!).

- Ever needed to get out of a meeting?  Popularitydialer.com allows you to set up a fake call to be placed to your phone when you need it.

I need to remark on the fantastic-ness of DragonCon. But now, for something completely different:

Six Degrees of Wikipedia

You can find the shortest route between any two articles.  Fantastic!

And just in case you were wondering, the shortest distance between chromodynamics and wordplay is 3 clicks:
quantum chromodynamics -> James Joyce -> Lolita -> Word play

Which country should you REALLY be living in?

The United Kingdom

You have pride in yourself and pride in your country. You believe that history and culture is an important factor to the future of your country, and that traditions and values should be upheld. You love your scones and tea, and reading soppy romance novels. The UK is where you should be...

I've been so busy I haven't been able to do these in a while.  Even if you aren't interested in particle physics, the comparison between the two science stories I have below is very telling about the state of American corporate media, in my opinion.
