This is from an interview with JKR that apparently airs today and tomorrow on the Today Show.  Basically, she states that she is considering coming up with an encyclopedia of the wizarding world to fill in the gaps on the characters.  There are spoilers in the link.

No problem. Yes, I am looking forward to the encyclopedia, though I have to wonder why, if she has all these things mapped out, doesn't she continue to write? (Neville spinoff? Luna spinoff? Anybody spinoff?) Oh well, I guess that is what fan fiction is for.
