I've been so busy I haven't been able to do these in a while.  Even if you aren't interested in particle physics, the comparison between the two science stories I have below is very telling about the state of American corporate media, in my opinion.

The China article reminds me 1) of Westworld (in a roundabout way) and 2) of this article I read in Wired today.

The different takes on the LHC are fascinating! One wonders if the American media would have been so modest had it, say, been an Iranian company providing the stuff...

That was an interesting article as well. It sounds like that if a person is an urban developer looking to be creative, China is the place to be.

Indeed! My guess is that if it had been a European institution that made the mistake, it would have definitely found it's way in the article (though perhaps in a non-confrontational way), and if it had been Iranian, it would have been in the headlines! I'm curious, though, what would the articles have been like if it had been a European mistake. Would they both delight in pointing it out, or would we have the reverse of the situation we have now? Is the bias regional, or just American? I guess it would be hard to tell in this hypothetical case, as a UK publication might be just as happy to point out the fault if it had been French or Italian as American, for example.
